ZAC A. COUNTS / EDITING

EDITING MAKE THE CUT.

Pacing, structure, and storytelling across commercial video, social content, and narrative filmmaking.

Editing / Picture & sound

Find the film in the footage.

Performance, structure and rhythm shape the cut. I edit narrative films and music-driven work, following the story from the first assembly through the details of the finished piece.

01 / Narrative

Give the story its shape.

My narrative editing work includes Dirty Halos, The Lighthouse Lost, The Red Room and Devil’s Den. Each needs a different sense of timing: a withheld reaction, a shift in perspective, a moment that has room to breathe. Directing and editing my own films lets those choices carry through from the shoot to the final cut.

02 / Music & motion

Cut with the sound.

For music-led work, the edit connects movement, texture and rhythm. My collaborations with Yuni Wa bring together constructed 3D environments, animation and editing, including Digital Love and Circuit. The images follow the music while building a visual world around it.

03 / Through the finish

Keep the whole frame in mind.

Editing connects to sound, color and visual effects. On The Lighthouse Lost, the post-production work included removing a school name and a second camera from shots. On The Red Room, I carried the film through editing, color and VFX. Those finishing decisions support the same story as the cut.
